While raining 3s and dishing out assists in her rookie-of-the-year season, Caitlin Clark was also being constantly bombarded by leftists urging her to bend the knee to the woke mob.
She did just that this week after being named Time magazine's Athlete of the Year.
"Clark got her roses, and then proceeded to bend the knee to the mob – presumably to the absolute delight of the publication – by saying she's only gotten where she is because she's white," OutKick's Zach Dean noted.
Clark told Time: "I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a white person, there is privilege. A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been black players. This league has kind of been built on them.
"The more we can appreciate that, highlight that, talk about that, and then continue to have brands and companies invest in those players that have made this league incredible, I think it’s very important.
"I have to continue to try to change that. The more we can elevate black women, that’s going to be a beautiful thing."
As Dean noted for OutKick, Clark's bow to the woke mob was "completely unnecessary" because "she's bending the knee to a mob that nobody cares about anymore. Caitlin – we won! The sane people won. The good guys won. We don't need to cater to the lunatics anymore. The Left is DOA. It's over. Sanity is back."
So, why did the best player in the WNBA, "crumble like a cheap tent? I'm sure she was pressured by wackos behind the scenes to do so," Dean added. "It's nonsense. It's, frankly, pathetic from a girl who actually had folks watching the WNBA – voluntarily! Sad. Predictable, but still sad."
Clark ended her rookie season averaging 19.2 points per game, 8.4 assists per game and 5.7 rebounds per game.
Her home and road games drew record crowds.
As a direct result of Clark's popularity, especially among young girls, the WNBA set an all-time record for total television viewers, at 54 million. The league had its highest total attendance in more than two decades, up roughly 50% from last year.
The All-Star Game recorded its most fan votes in history, at 10 million votes — more than a 500% increase from last year.
The Indiana Fever, the team Clark plays for, set an all-time single-season record for attendance by a WNBA team. The league saw a 350% year-over-year growth in subscriptions to their paid streaming service. The league had more social media engagement, more sellout crowds, and more merchandise sales than ever before.
But the league still lost $40 million.
The Daily Wire's Matt Walsh noted: "This is a business that has never been profitable in its history, and now it's abundantly clear that nothing can possibly change that. It is a fatally flawed concept because the overwhelming majority of Americans have no interest in watching women play basketball."
Look at this. She’s on the knee all but apologizing for being white and getting attention. The self-flagellation. The “oh pls pay attention to the black players who are REALY the ones you want to celebrate.” Condescending. Fake. Transparent. Sad. https://t.co/cTzk0CTLPn
