The Republican-controlled House of Representatives will investigate Joe Biden for a series of alleged crimes including human trafficking for which extensive documentation already exists, Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and James Comer of Kentucky said at a press conference on Thursday.
Comer, who is set to chair the House Oversight Committee, said whistleblowers have come forward to detail how Hunter Biden and his relatives "flourished and became millionaires simply by offering access to the family."
All members of Congress recently received information on the Biden family’s alleged corruption with national security implications from Marco Polo, a research group run by former Trump administration official Garrett Ziegler that documented and indexed the contents of the abandoned Hunter Biden laptop.
Ziegler said, after obtaining a copy of the laptop, Marco Polo investigators had undertaken “what every single law enforcement institution in this country, especially and including the FBI, is not going to do,” which is compile and release a detailed historical record of everything contained on the laptop Hunter Biden abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop in April 2019.
"Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden's business deals, and is he compromised? That's our investigation," Comer said.
The Republicans announced that Biden and his family will be investigated for the following violations:
• Conspiracy or defrauding the United States
• Wire fraud
• Conspiracy to commit wire fraud
• Violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act
• Violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
• Violations of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000
• Tax evasion
• Money laundering
• Conspiracy to commit money laundering
“I want to be clear, this is an investigation of Joe Biden,” Comer stated. “The Biden family’s business dealings implicate a wide range of criminality from human trafficking to potential violations of the constitution.”
The investigation will look into whether Biden "is compromised or swayed by foreign dollars or influence," Comer added.
Comer noted that Republicans “will pursue all avenues,” including those “that have long been ignored.”

Jordan, who is set to chair the House Judiciary Committee, criticized senior intelligence analysts and media outlets who insisted that emails obtained from Hunter Biden’s "laptop from hell" were part of a Russian disinformation effort, and accused federal officials of working to suppress the story.
“We’re going to try to help Representative Comer and the team here at Oversight with our work on Judiciary, but with a specific focus on what the FBI was doing,” said Jordan. “There’s so many questions that need answers so we can get to the bottom of this.”
“This is the focus on the Judiciary Committee, the political nature of the Justice Department and the linkage now to what was happening with the Hunter Biden story,” said Jordan.
"Jim Jordan was fantastic this morning in the press conference re the Biden investigation,:" Ziegler said in a statement on Telegram.
"It’s a crime in itself that McCarthy will be speaker and not Jordan. Again, all of these men have received our report, I have met with some of their staff, and they have no excuse but to use our report as a foundation for issuing subpoenas and criminal referrals, including and especially to local jurisdictions."
Comer added that additional evidence suggests the Biden family tried to aid the Chinese’s purchase of American assets.
“We find evidence that Hunter Biden and Joe Biden were involved in a scheme to try to get China to buy liquified natural gas,” Comer said. “People are in outrage over China buying farmland in the Dakotas. What about China starting to buy into our American energy industry?”
Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House Counsel's office, said Thursday that Republicans were going after Biden "with politically motivated attacks chock full of long-debunked conspiracy theories."
